Meet Emma
Hello, I’m Emma. I’ve been grooming dogs professionally for ten years, ever since gaining my Level 3 City & Guilds certificate — and Bedale Dog Grooming is my third grooming business, so my experience really does speak for itself.
Before grooming, I managed a sizeable boarding kennels, so there aren’t many breeds (or characters!) I haven’t met. People now travel over 50 miles to have their dog groomed with me — proud is an understatement.
What I love most is earning a dog’s trust, especially nervous dogs who grow a little more confident with every visit. Your dog will never be dried in a cage or left in a crate for long periods. Their comfort and welfare always come first.

Questions, answered
A typical full groom on a spaniel or cockapoo-sized dog takes around an hour and a half. A Labrador de-shed groom takes about an hour.
Emma asks that owners drop off, then pop back when she messages or calls to say your dog is ready. Very occasionally, an owner may be asked to hold their dog for nail cutting.
Yes — nervous and elderly dogs are very welcome. Emma is patient and confident with anxious dogs, takes things at their pace, and nothing makes her happier than watching a nervous dog grow more comfortable with each visit. Dogs are never dried in a cage or left crated for long periods.
On average, every 6–8 weeks for dogs whose coats matt easily. Spaniels can generally go around 10–12 weeks between visits.
Your dog doesn’t need to be vaccinated, but please be vigilant for signs of illness — poorly dogs can’t be accepted. Dogs with fleas can’t be accepted either, and if fleas are found you’ll be asked to collect your dog; the welfare of every dog in Emma’s care has to come first.
Please also let Emma know in advance about any medical conditions or behaviours that might affect the groom — safety is always the priority.
Almost! Sadly, some of the larger and giant breeds can’t be accepted. If you’re unsure, just send a message with your dog’s breed and Emma will let you know.
